The recent rainstorms seem to have done quite a bit of damage to our deck! Underneath the wood is a layer of corrugated plastic sheeting, which has partially fallen off due to wind, water, or both. It's hanging down quite low and is covered in mold and mud.

This is a problem because it means the wood, which was never totally stable anyway, has been completely soaked through and might not be sturdy or safe. Even in the best of times, an "extra" support pillar is needed to keep the deck from sliding off the hill.

Our landlords once told us the deck could hold 150 people, but they wouldn't put it in writing. I wonder how they'll deal with this...it might be time to give a city/county engineer a call.
