Daniel, Julie, Steve and Nali head out to Half Moon Bay. The trip served two purposes: fun in the sun, and inspecting some couches Julie found on craigslist. The trip began with a not particularly early departure from Goatland about 10am. After laying in the sun and enjoying a friendly game of frisbee on the beach where Daniel put everyone to shame, all present declared Barnali lunch dictator. Initially she tried to dictate a vote, but this fell through and ultimately the group enjoyed an affordable, yet authentic lunch at Happy Taco. The remainder of the afternoon was spent inspecting couches. That evening, Steve and Nali prepared a culinary feast of Burgers, corn on the cob, baked beans, and garlic potato things. This marked Goatland's first dinner with all housemates present.

While in Florida, Julie received a surprise phone call... from Iraq. When she asked her dear friend Gary how he was, he responded "I'm sick of being bombed and shot at." "Oh, yeah, that would suck," I responded. Bush sucks.

While the Goatland boys are programming away on their respective Californian keyboards, the Goatland girls are galavanting about around the continent. Julie is in Florida, Bree is in Mexico, and Barnali is in Oregon.

I have jury duty! I'm sort of excited but it's also sort of a pain.

Until the last six months, I thought no one ever actually got summoned for jury duty. But then, since I moved to the Bay area and started working in September, two people in my 15-person office have been summoned, plus Daniel. He got out of it because he's not a citizen (yet). I have a pretty closed social network, living and working with my best friends, so it's pretty bizarre that so many people have been summoned lately. The powers that be have been slowly circling in on me. I wonder why the Bay area seems to need more jurors than Washington.

Presenting our first photo collection: your first peek into Goatland!

For some reason, setting the thermostat to 70 degrees makes the basement about 85, but the upstairs bedrooms are still cold! Maybe we just should give up on climate control completely.

...and unto goatland is received the moistness and virility from whence its bounty of reciprocal anonymity shall arise. the smell of tainted life. the melodic and periodic sounds of the moistness caressing the curves of the collective being. and yet, at the utmost center of the carnal frenzy, with the palpable reality of sensation focused in his mind but not in his action, the writer is at once protected from nature's humbling game, and enthralled increasingly by it...

Yay, it's raining! I think this is the first time, also.

Make that Daniel can't vote YET

I guess Daniel has revealed that he is a closet conservative. Good thing he can't vote :-).

And the house unites to gang up on Daniel!

Homes in Goatland's neighborhood sell for nearly a million dollars, but Goatland's neighbors seem to be donating more money to the Democrats than the Republicans. That's not right -- it's your job to fix it!

The Kahlua bottle takes a suicide jump from atop the fridge, hits Steve on the nose. The Kahlua bottle has been condemned (to being slowly emptied and drunken).

This site is now the first Google result for the query: "goatland". Yay!

Happy Easter everybody!

Goatland enjoys Easter breakfast of pancakes and scones, whilst Julie whiles away in SoCal, and Steve whiles away at Oracle.

Jon had suggested Chinese Easter Dim Sum breakfast, but no one woke up in time to get the special at the Chinese Bistro down the hill.

Early Sunday morning whilst the residents of Goatland were still snuggled in their warm beds dreaming of pancakes and scones that soon would be and Dim Sum that never would, the Easter Bunny stole into the house and left Easter surprises for all in Julie's closet. (Purple and yellow are for the girls, blue and orange are for the boys.)

Julie heads home to spend quality time with the family during Easter, and the whole house now has gmail accounts. Don't let anyone else lead you wrong: gmail does not stand for 'google mail'. Gmail stands for 'goat mail'!!!!!!!!!

Julie asks Steve regarding the status of various restaurant leftovers in the fridge. Steve donates Jackson's leftover quesadillas to the McAlister Foodbank. A message is left on Barnali's answering machine regarding two other food items.

The phone line mysteriously becomes self aware and begins to work, Daniel fixes the thermostat, Julie advises Tony with boy problems, and Jon discovers an online blues radio channel. Life is good.

Or was that Steve and Daniel daydreaming about their girlfriends?

Jackson and Jess are the first visitors to stay the night. Jackson and Jess affirm that Jon is the alpha-ram. Jackson affirms that Julie's room is the pimp room. Regarding Jon's room, Jackson comments: "intense."

Steve brings home yet another to-go box.

Water still drips in the basement whenever Barnali's upstairs toilet is flushed. BOOOO!!!!

Jon installs seedy wallpaper.

Goatland unleashes its mad karaoke skills up in the city, whilst Jon sleeps in, recovering from a perfectly innocent drive to Napa Valley.

We have a brand new washing machine! All rejoice.
