Goatland

The evening of November 2nd brought Goatland together.

At 7 PM, Julie returned home from work, declaring, "I have one hour to
become an educated voter!" Jon and Barnali rallied together, offering
their personal opinions on the various ballot measures, and pulling up
Steve's election matrix containing the various political parties'
positions on the different oppositions. At 7:40 PM, Jon rushed Julie to
the polls so she could get her ballot in before the polls closed!

By 8 PM, all of Goatland except Bree (who was away in Salem) found
themselves gathered around the television. The evening began with
optimism - there was much hope that Kerry would pull through. Then, one
after another, the networks called Florida, CNN being the last to do
so. As the evening wore on, updates from Ohio slowly lowered our
spirits. Finally, a sleepy Barnali heard Daniel say that Fox had called
Ohio (she thinks). By 11 PM or so, Goatland has resigned itself to a
Bush win - Daniel brought out the vodka, and led the house in drinking
to evil.

Damn. It's going to be a scary four (more) years.
